A few simple precautions can make your recovery more comfortable and help protect your treatment.
If you are experiencing severe facial swelling, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing or another medical emergency, do not wait for a routine dental appointment.
Search for your procedure or open a treatment below. Follow the advice provided by your dental team alongside these general instructions.
Mild tenderness when biting, a slightly different feeling in the tooth and some soreness around the treated area can occur for a few days.
Your gums may feel tender and your teeth may be temporarily sensitive. Slight bleeding during brushing can happen while inflamed gums begin to recover.
Place clean, slightly damp gauze over the socket and bite with steady pressure for 30 minutes while sitting upright. Avoid repeatedly removing the gauze to check the area.
Follow the tooth-extraction instructions above and add these additional precautions for surgical recovery.
Your new teeth may look complete straight away, but the implants underneath are still healing. Protecting them during this period is extremely important.
Some swelling, bruising or tenderness can be part of normal healing. Occasionally, a few small graft particles may be noticed. Do not disturb the area. Contact Toothistan if you are concerned.
Follow your implant or bone-graft instructions and take extra care to avoid creating pressure inside the sinus.
Apply firm, continuous pressure with clean gauze for 20–30 minutes while sitting upright. Contact Toothistan if active bleeding continues.
Healing is usually straightforward, but you should never feel that you have to guess. Our team can help you understand what you are experiencing and what to do next.
